PLAYWRIGHT SUBMISSIONS
Welcome to our submissions page. We are thrilled you are here. Please read over the criteria carefully. Thank you.
Submission Criteria:
- The play must be 10 minutes in length.
- The play must be unproduced and original.
- All playwrights must live in the Vancouver area for the duration of the festival: April 15th-18th, 2026.
- We welcome plays in any genre: clown, drama, musicals, everything. Surprise us!
- The set is bare bones, so we encourage writers to find imaginative ways to keep cast numbers and set pieces to a minimum.
- You may submit more than one play.
- There is a submission fee of $25.00 per script. All funds go towards the festival. If this fee is a barrier to you, please contact us at OrFestInquiries@gmail.com.
- Please submit your script in PDF or DOC format. We are also accepting video scripts in ASL.
- For PDF or DOC scripts, please remove your name from all pages as our curators will read your play anonymously
- For videos in ASL, please send your video directly to DeafArtsHub@gmail.com

VIDEO FOR DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING ARTISTS (Starring Ashley mann):
Chosen Playwrights:
3-4 hearing playwrights (selected anonymously by our panel of curators) and 2-3 Deaf and Hard of Hearing playwrights (selected by our Deaf curatorial team) will receive a full production of their play. All plays are directed, dramaturged and acted by local Vancouver artists and Deaf and Hard of Hearing Artists across Canada. The plays will celebrate their world premiere at the Jericho Arts Centre on April 15th-18th, 2026. All plays are shown every night. We will announce the selected playwrights on our website in January, 2026 with “trumpet fanfare”. Happy writing!
